For the appointment of a new DGP in Rajasthan, a panel of three names was prepared by the state government on the basis of seniority and sent to UPSC for approval. UPSC finally finalized this panel and sent it back to the state government. The panel included the names of IPS Rajiv Sharma, Rajesh Nirvana and Sanjay Aggarwal. The most senior officer of these was Rajiv Sharma. Rajiv Sharma comes from the OBC category. Rajesh Nirvana (1992 batch) is currently DG (Delhi) in the National Airport Security Force. At the same time, Sanjay Aggarwal (1992 batch) is currently the intelligence DG of Rajasthan.
