Indian Railway Rules: Senior officials of the Ministry of Railways have clarified that there will be no change in the rules of rail travel from March 1, 2025. The rules that were already applicable will continue. For the convenience of passengers, the Railways has clarified these rules again.
In a special conversation with ABP News, senior officials of the Ministry of Railways said that the news is misleading that from March 1, there is going to be any change in the rules of rail travel. All the rules will remain the same which are already coming. He told that only passengers with counter tickets can travel in general coaches. Passengers with online waiting tickets will not be allowed to travel in general coaches. Refund can be taken on counter waiting tickets till half an hour before the train is released.
Rules related to reservation
Rail passengers can get reservation done 60 days before their journey. This rule was implemented last year, which has made it easier to get confirmed tickets. Earlier ticket booking used to be done 120 days ago, but about 25% of the passengers used to cancel their journey.
Rules exemption under special circumstances
Keeping in mind the convenience of the railway passengers, it takes a flexible stance in some cases, although these exemption is not regular rules. Travelers with waiting tickets in sleeper and AC coaches cannot travel, but can allow TT in certain circumstances. If there are more than one ticket on the same PNR and one of them gets confirmed, then passengers with waiting tickets cannot travel. However, TT usually allows two waiting ticket holders on a confirmed seat. In such cases, information is given to the Railways so that passengers with waiting tickets are not given refunds.
Railway initiative for the convenience of passengers
The railway is not making any changes in the existing rules, but it is flexibility as required for the convenience of the passengers. If there is a problem in your journey, then you can contact railway officials.
