There has been a major change in Russian military leadership between Ukraine War. President Vladimir Putin has removed Russia’s land forces chief General Oleg Salukov (70) from his post. This information was given in an official statement released by Kremlin on Thursday.
General Salukov has been appointed as Deputy of former Defense Minister Sergei Shigu, who was removed from the Ministry of Defense last year and was made the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia. This change has happened at a time when the Russia-Ukraine War has completed three years and high military officials are constantly being accused of corruption within the country.

Salukov’s presence appeared a few days ago
Surprisingly, Salukov led the Victory Day Parade in Red Square, Moscow a few days ago, in which current Defense Minister Andree Beloyusaw was present. This parade was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Nazi Germany.
Action on many military officers in the last one year
Russian law enforcement agencies have made allegations of corruption against dozens of defense and military officials in the last one year, many of whom had rigged money for personal benefits from major defense projects. However, Kremlin refused to be called these actions “military coup or cleanliness drive”.
General Salukov’s term and role in war
Salukov has been the head of Russia’s ground army since 2014 and played an active role in the Syrian civil war and Ukraine struggle. Earlier, he had served as the Deputy Chief of General Staff for four years. Meanwhile, for the first time a direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine are expected to be held in Istanbul for the first time.
