Giving a shock to America, Russia successfully tested the world’s most powerful nuclear powered underwater torpedo Poseidon. Russian President Vladimir Putin called it a big achievement. He said that on October 28, Russia successfully tested the underwater drone ‘Poseidon’ in the Arctic Ocean, which is equipped with a nuclear unit.
Russia’s second successful test within 7 days
Putin claimed that the power of Poseidon is much more than Russia’s largest ICBM Sarmat and no weapon in the world can defeat it. According to Putin, Russia not only launched Poseidon from a carrier submarine, but also activated its nuclear unit. This is Russia’s second such test in the last seven days. On Sunday (26 October 2025), Putin had told about the successful test of the Burevestnik cruise missile with unlimited range.
Putin did not agree even after Trump’s warning
This test by Russia is being considered as an indication that Moscow will not bow down to the pressure of Western countries regarding the Ukraine war. Regarding the test conducted by Russia on October 26, Trump had said, ‘They should have ended the war in Ukraine. The war which should have ended in a week is now taking four years. Instead of testing missiles, they (Russia) should have focused on ending the war.
What is Poseidon?
Poseidon is a state-of-the-art weapon, which is equipped with nuclear energy and is launched from underwater. It is kept in the category of torpedo, which is capable of attacking enemy ships or shores. This is an automated drone, which Russia calls an intercontinental nuclear torpedo. Its weight is 100 tonnes, length is 20 meters and speed is 100 knots. Drones can destroy coastal cities from under the sea.
US-Britain came under tension
Due to Poseidon’s unlimited range and sea launch, any coastal country in the world can be its target. America’s New York, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco can be its targets. Apart from this, Portsmouth and London of Britain and many cities of France and Japan are also in its range.
After testing the Burevestnik cruise missile, Putin had said that its range is unlimited and it will be deployed soon. The US Air Force Intelligence Center had said that if Russia deploys it, it will be a unique intercontinental weapon.
