Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged protests across the country on Tuesday. These demonstrations were organized to demand Imran Khan’s release. He was arrested two years ago on charges of corruption. PTI claimed that more than 500 activists and supporters involved in the protests were arrested by the police, most of which were from Punjab province.
72 -year -old Imran Khan was convicted by the court in a corruption case, after which he was arrested on August 5, 2023 from his residence in Lahore. Imran Rawalpindi’s Adiala has been lodged in Adiala Jail since he was convicted in other cases.

Imran Khan called for protest
The nationwide protest was called by Imran Khan. PTA claimed that a large number of supporters of the jailed Khan were coming out in large numbers and supporting it. Senior party leader Zulfi Bukhari said, ‘Today, on August 5, former Prime Minister Imran Khan is the second anniversary of being jailed. All his basic human rights have been taken away, there is no access to the legal team or family or there is a very limited access, and sometimes there is no access to his political leadership other than some people. ‘
Police also arrested several PTI MPs
Khan spokesman Bukhari, for international relations and international media, said the government has banned meetings. The main highways have been blocked. He said that the party’s flag cars have been vandalized and the houses of active party leaders and workers have been raided. He said, ‘More than 500 leaders and activists have been arrested so far in Punjab alone, most of whom are from Lahore. Many MPs have also been arrested.

Neither the rule of law nor human rights is left: Bukhari
Bukhari attacked the government and said that democracy is missing. Neither the rule of law nor human rights remains. He said that such tyrannical behavior with Pakistanis is also shameful for hybrid rule. He said that the protesters would continue to perform peacefully till the end. He said that despite being in power, the government is looking weak.
Arrests for violation of section 144 in Punjab province
In the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-ruled Punjab province of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the police has implemented Section 144, under which four or more people are banned from gathering. Police arrested PTI supporters for violating Section 144. A spokesman for the Punjab Police says that no one is allowed to violate Section 144.
