In 2008, Nikhil Dwivedi, who made her debut in Hindi cinema as an actor from the film ‘My Name is Anthony Gonsalves’, took up acting and took over production. After acting’s innings, he made hit films like ‘Veere Di Wedding’ and ‘Dabangg 3’ as a producer.

At this time, Nikhil is trying to balance between both production and acting responsibilities. He has interacted with Dainik Bhaskar on his professional journey and various aspects of the industry.

You have a close relationship with both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. How did this bond become?

Salman is a big hearted person. The big hearted people keep everyone close to them. They are always engaged in helping others. Whether or not I am close to anyone, it is a very private matter. All these artists are very big people who have earned a big name.

A few years ago, Nikhil was about to make a film with Salman and Shah Rukh, which Sanjay Leela Bhansali was going to be directed.

I think that I do not feel that I am taking his name just to remain in the news. Whether you are close to them or not, but if they give you a chance to get close or meet you, then you should learn something from them. There is some reason that he has been in the industry for the last 30-35 years. God bless that I have got a chance to spend some good time with both.

There is a debate on the struggles of outsider and insider. What was your struggle?

You are from anywhere, it is not an easy task to go to movies and make your place. Even if you have made your place there, it is not easy to stay there. People often say that Star Kids get a chance very easily. They get the opportunity easily, after that their journey and struggle is as difficult as an outsiders. I consider the debate of insider and outsider as baseless. Or neither a person inside tried to stop the outside, nor has anyone removed anyone. As soon as you come from outside and succeed here, they also take you in a moment.

After the death of Sushant, Bollywood faced many allegations. If the audience does not watch the outsiders films, then that actor will not run. Is the public more responsible in such a situation?

I agree with your words hundred percent. What happened to Sushant is sad. Let me tell you that Sushant Singh Rajput is considered very successful. From where he came, the fight he fought, the kind of films he did and became a star. He was a very high level star. Later, he would become a very big star.

People say that big stars were scared, how many people come every year and big stars feel that they have to keep their positions. But this does not mean that all of them start planning together how to drop it.

Sushant started his career in 2013 with the film ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’.

The conspiracies of the film industry are of a very small level. The outside person will laugh at him. More conspiracy, conspiracy, businessmen and politicians try to demolish each other. Our conspiracy is so much that an article about someone is printed that its film does not work. Or not doing well. Then the matter ends here. These conspiracies do not run too long.

At the time of Sushant’s matter, you tweeted in support of Riya Chakraborty. At that time there were very few people who supported him.

I said in my tweet that I do not even know you. I said that I would like to work with you but for some reason it could not be done yet. I am also embarrassed for this. But even today, I can say with the claim that I did not tweet for any attention in support of Riya.

I knew that injustice and wrong with him. See the same thing happened. That whole case was disorganized. The CBI charge sheet also stated that Sushant had committed suicide.

Is the craze of cinema decreasing due to OTT?

I do not agree… because technology, medium, platforms will continue to change. Something new will come that you have to find your tone. It has also happened in the 80s. When the VCR video came, everyone had to say that the video will end the films. People stopped going to the theater as the theater was not being upgraded.

The audience had so much money that when they bought VCR, they started watching movies in small TV at home. This made the business a lot of effect. Then big stars used to come and promote their films that you come to see the film in a big theater. It took a whole decade to improve it again when films like Qayamat to Qayamat and Mr. India.

Nikhil is soon going to make the film ‘Naagin’ with Shraddha Kapoor.

These days, there is a debate between Hindi and South films to be related to more roots and not. What do you think?

There is no such partition between South and North Cinema. Internet medium and some other reasons, now their cinema and our cinema are being seen more towards them. Now showing his films on YouTube. Earlier, he was seen only in theaters. Before this, we have never seen his work so much. However, the filmmaker of South, then he is of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam or Kannada, when he used to come here and make films, he took his films.

Anil Kapoor’s first film ‘Woh Saat Din’ was directed by Bapu. Jitendra has not known how many South filmmakers have worked with. How many films have been made with Amit ji. Kamal Haasan was a big hit. Many films like Rajinikanth’s ‘Andhakanoon’ and ‘Arreaged’ have been hits.

Now PAN India is treated because people have been watching their films continuously for the last seven-eight years. YouTube has a big hand in it. Now people have started recognizing their artists. They seem more connected because most of our new actors and filmmakers are inspired by Hollywood and Western countries.

Many people would not have seen good Bollywood films. Many people have not even seen ‘Sholay’. We have forgotten the country to show villages and far -flung areas, due to which people are not able to connect with films, the effect of which is now visible at work too.
