Six devotees died in a stampede at Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh late Wednesday evening. At the same time, there is also news of about 25 people being injured in the incident. Many people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state CM Chandrababu Naidu have expressed grief over this incident. PM Modi expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the stampede. At the same time, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has also expressed condolences for those killed in the accident. CM Naidu will also visit Tirupati tomorrow morning.

PM Modi expressed grief over the accident

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the accident in Tirupati temple. Posting from his X account, he wrote, I am hurt by the stampede in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. My condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured get well soon. Andhra Pradesh government is providing all possible assistance to the affected people.

How did the accident happen?

According to the police, hundreds of devotees were jostling to get tokens for Vaikuntha Dwara darshan at the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple on Tirumala Hills when a stampede broke out.

In fact, hundreds of devotees from all over the country have reached here for the 10-day Vaikuntha Dwar Darshanam starting from January 10. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) had made arrangements to issue darshan tokens from Thursday morning. Due to this, devotees started queuing up from Wednesday evening itself. There were long queues of devotees at Alipiri, Srinivasam, Satyanarayanapuram and Padmavathipuram. Police have also shared on social media the video of them giving CPR to some women devotees during the accident and taking the injured persons in an ambulance.

Tomorrow CM Naidu will go to Tirupati

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has expressed condolences for those killed in the accident. N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the stampede situation with DGP, TTD EO, District Collector, SP. Chief Minister Naidu said that it is very sad to lose the lives of the devotees who had come for darshan. During this, Chief Minister Naidu raised the question that when it was known that a large number of devotees would come, then why were they not able to make arrangements accordingly. Chief Minister Naidu ordered officials to ensure better treatment for the victims. He also said that he would visit Tirupati tomorrow to meet the injured.
