Parties, people to get one month to include, remove names from draft rolls: cec to bihar voters – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dnyanesh Kumar said on Thursday that Bihar’s draft voters will be published on August 1. Political parties and people will be given a full month’s time to add or remove names to the list. CEC Kumar said that the proposed list will be published on August 1 under the special intensive revision (SIR) process released for the voter list in Bihar. District Election Officer will provide print and digital copy of this list to all recognized political parties in all 38 districts of Bihar.

Gyanesh Kumar said that the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of all 243 assembly constituencies will seek objections and suggestions from any voter or political party from August 1 to September 1. In this, any eligible voter can apply for adding his name, removing the name of an ineligible person or any improvement in the list.

SIR process being done in three phases

According to the Election Commission, the SIR process is taking place in three phases. After the first phase calculation (24 June to 25 July 2025), the draft of the voter list will be published on August 1. In the second phase (from 1 August to 1 September), any voter or any political parties will be able to register their claims or objections to improve any error in the draft voter list. In the third phase (till 25 September), the forms will be examined by all EROs and all claims and objections will be disposed of.

Major objectives of SRI process-

  • Participation of all voters and political parties

  • No qualified voters are left out in Bihar

  • No temporary migrants of Bihar are left out

  • No urban voters missed in Bihar

  • No young voters missed

  • Regular information with all voters and all political parties

  • Complete participation of all election workers including volunteers

  • Resolve every issue raised during the calculation phase

  • Drawing errors from the draft voter list from August 1 to September 1

What are the opposition parties accusing

The CEC statement came at a time when the opposition parties are continuously opposing the SIR process. He says that due to lack of documents in this process, many qualified citizens can be denied the right to vote. Opposition parties also allege that the ruling BJP-JDU alliance can affect local election officials in Bihar in its favor. There is a daily ruckus during the monsoon session in both houses of Parliament on this issue.
