The government has introduced the Bharat-Ji Ram Ji Bill to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).VB-G Ram Ji Bill) has been passed. replacing MNREGA VB-G Ram Ji Bill But there was a lot of rhetoric in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Agriculture Minister Shivraj bluntly said that the then Congress-led UPA government had linked Mahatma Gandhi’s name to MNREGA for electoral gains. Responding to the discussion in the House, Shivraj Chauhan said, earlier also the word Mahatma Gandhi was not in the name of this scheme. When the UPA government remembered Bapu at the time of elections in 2009, it changed NREGA to MNREGA. The Agriculture Minister said that Rs 8.53 lakh crore was spent on this scheme during the tenure of the Modi government compared to Rs 2.13 lakh crore during the ten-year tenure of the UPA government.
