Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is in jail since August 2023.

Pakistani Army has described former Prime Minister Imran Khan as ‘mentally ill’. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary said in a press conference on Friday that Imran Khan is a direct threat to national security.

This press conference took place soon after the inauguration of the new Chief of Defense Forces Headquarters. While talking to reporters, Lieutenant General Chaudhary criticized Imran Khan several times. Showing a tweet by Khan, he said that this is a deliberate attempt to create a narrative against the army.

General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary said that Imran Khan’s narrative has now become a national security threat.

Army said- don’t drag the army into politics

DG ISPR Choudhary described Khan as a person who gives priority to his personal gains over the Constitution. He said, “A person thinks that if he is not there, then he is nothing. He has become a threat to national security. He feels that without me nothing can happen.

Chaudhary said that no one will be allowed to create a rift between the Pakistan Army and the people. He asked political parties not to drag the army into their politics. Respect the boundaries of organizations.

Questions on those found in custody

Lieutenant General Chaudhary also raised the question under which law does the jailed Imran Khan meet people and prepare a narrative against the state and the army? He asked, “What is the law that allows a prisoner to meet people and create a narrative against the state and the armed forces of Pakistan?”

He claimed that whenever Khan meets anyone, he tries to create an atmosphere against the state and the army by keeping the Constitution and law aside.
