Pahalgam Attack: Despite Civil Aviation Ministry Request Many Airlines Charging Hefty Fares from Tourists – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

Despite the request of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, several airlines are charging a rough fare from tourists stranded in Kashmir to return home. After the Pahalgam terror attack, the airlines increased the fare from Srinagar by two to four times the fare for major cities of the country. Many passengers shared the screenshot on social media and said that even in this difficult situation, airline companies are not missing any opportunity to earn profits.

Due to the complaints of the people, Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu held an immediate meeting with all airline operators and issued strict instructions against the increase in fares, asking the airlines to maintain regular fare levels to ensure that no passenger was burdened during this sensitive time. He also directed all the airlines to coordinate with the state governments and local authorities, supporting the deceased persons to their home states. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation also asked the airlines not to increase the prices of tickets for flights from Srinagar. Apart from this, they asked the airlines to increase the number of flights to bring tourists back from Jammu and Kashmir.

Booking canceler gets full money: Tourism Secretary

The central government has written a letter to the hotel, transport, tour, online tour operator and travel agent association, directing to return the entire money on cancellation of ticket booking. In the letter written, it is said that the fees of cancellation of booking should not be deducted for tourists who want to cancel the visit to Jammu and Kashmir. – V Vidyavati, Tourism Secretary

On searching on the airline operators website, either ticket prices have increased or tickets have been sold. The fare from Srinagar to Delhi on Wednesday reached beyond 50 thousand rupees per person. Although the fare decreased slightly after the instructions of the ministry, but the prices of tickets on Wednesday and Thursday are still seen to be 17 thousand. The price of some airlines is also up to 23 thousand.

IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa and SpiceJet waived the cancellation fee

IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa and Spice Jet have announced that the flights on all Srinagar flights booked by April 20 have been waived till April 30.
