The incident took place on Monday night in West Bank Susia village. Balal told that a Israeli settling in the West Bank kicked his head like a football. The soldiers then arrested him. They were blindfolded for twenty hours and kept in a cold room and beaten several times.

Balal said that the soldiers detained him and two other Palestinians. The film director said that he was blindfolded and kept sitting on the floor for more than 20 hours, where fast AC was going on. The person who identified Balal as an attacker was the Shem Tow Lusky of the Jewish settlement, who had earlier threatened Balal. Lusky claimed that neither he nor the soldiers beat Balal. He told the Associated Press that Balal and other village Palestinians threw stones at his car. He also said that he did not know that Balal was an Oscar winner.
