Why did the DGMOs of India and Pakistan get ready to negotiate?
DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said that our aim was to target terrorist camps and our later action was only in response to Pakistan’s provocation. Because of this, his initiative was discussed with Pakistan’s DGMO. However, expected Pakistan violated the ceasefire within a few hours. The army commanders have been given an open exemption to respond to a violation of the ceasefire.
Lieutenant General Ghai said, “I spoke to Pakistan’s DGMO yesterday (May 10) at 3:35 pm.” He requested that let’s give up enmity. After the talks, the two countries agreed to stop firing and air infiltration at each other from 5:00 pm on May 10. We also decided that on May 12 at 12 noon, we would talk again, so that it can be discussed how to maintain this agreement for a long time. But it is a matter of regret, and as expected, the Pakistan Army violated the agreement in a few hours. He again opened fire on the border and the Line of Control (LoC) and sent drones at night. We gave a strict reply to these violations.

He further said, this morning we sent a message to the DGMO of Pakistan again on the hotline and informed them about these violations. Also, it clearly said that if this happens tonight or further again, we will answer more vigorously. The Army Chief (COAS) has given full exemption to our commanders that if Pakistan violates any violations, immediate retaliation should be taken.
Lieutenant General Ghai said, ‘I pay my tribute to my five martyred colleagues and brothers and citizens of armed forces who lost my life tragically in Operation Sindoor. Our condolences are with bereaved families … their sacrifice will always be remembered … We have been very restrained so far and our action has been focused, balanced and non-comprehensive. However, any threat to the sovereignty, regional integrity and security of our citizens will be decisively encountered. ‘
