OLED vs QLED vs Mini-LED: If you are thinking of buying a new smart TV, then you must have got confused after seeing the flood of words like OLED, QLED and Mini-LED in the market. Every brand claims that its display is the best but which technology has the real cinematic fun? Let us know the real difference between these three TV technologies.
OLED TV
In OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology, each pixel emits light automatically. That is, when black has to be shown in any part, that pixel is completely turned off. This means you get perfect black levels, high contrast and amazing color depth. OLED TVs are considered the best for cinematic experience. But their cost is a bit high and there is a risk of “burn-in” if the same image remains for a long time.
QLED TV
QLED (Quantum Dot LED) TV is actually an advanced version of LED, in which a quantum dot layer is installed. This improves both color and brightness significantly.
If your room is bright or you watch TV a lot during the day, then QLED TV will be great for you. There is no problem of burn-in and its life is also long. However, QLED does not provide deep blacks like OLED because it is completely dependent on the backlight.
Mini-LED TV
Mini-LED technology is an advanced form of QLED. Thousands of small LED lights are installed in it, due to which the backlighting becomes very precise.
Its advantage is better contrast, deeper blacks and more brightness, that too at a lower price. You can call Mini-LED TV a middle ground technology between OLED and QLED.
Which TV is best?
If you want a theater like dark room experience then OLED is perfect for you. If you are buying TV for bright room or gaming then QLED will be better. And if you want balanced performance and value for money then Mini-LED is the smartest choice.
