There was chaos on Wednesday evening during the live concert of Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal during the Bali Yatra Fair organized in Cuttack, Odisha. One person was injured when the crowd suddenly moved towards the stage.
District administration officials said that as soon as Shreya Ghoshal reached the stage, thousands of spectators flocked towards the stage. The situation went out of control for some time, after which the program had to be stopped temporarily. After the intervention of the police, the situation became normal and the show was restarted.
During this time a person became unconscious, who was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. Police Commissioner S Dev Dutta Singh said that the crowd was very large, but no serious incident took place. One person suffered minor injuries and is now safe. During the program, senior police officers themselves were monitoring the situation from the control room. The police, through the public announcement system, appealed to the people to remain calm and maintain order.
It is noteworthy that Bali Travel Fair is one of the largest trade fairs in the country. About 70 platoons i.e. 2,100 policemen were deployed to maintain law and order in this event.
