Odisha Assembly Session Ruckus: There was a ruckus in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) when the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition Congress MLAs clashed in the House itself. After this, Assembly Speaker Surma Padhi had to postpone the proceedings.

Tension in the assembly increased when senior BJP MLA Jai Narayan Mishra, Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati. Taraprasad, Urban Development Minister K.C. He was standing in front of Mahapatra and the minister was answering a question. Bahinipati told reporters outside the House, “Mishra pushed me by holding the collar of my shirt. I was requesting Minister Mahapatra folded hands that when there is no arrangement in the House, he should not answer but suddenly Mishra came and caught my collar.

BJP-Congress MLAs were seen pushing

Later, the push between the ruling party and other members of the Congress also started, after which the Chairman Padhi postponed the proceedings of the House. There was an uproar in the house. Members of BJP and Congress were seen pushing each other. Members of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) were also present at the same place, but they stayed away from it.

Opposition BJD and Congress MLAs raised different issues. The BJD MLAs demanded a statement from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Mishra’s remarks in which Mishra described the merger in the then Kosal in Odisha in 1936 as “historic mistake”, while the Congress MLAs were protesting against the growing crimes against women in the state.

Uproar in Odisha Assembly for the second day

This was the second consecutive day when there was an uproar in the assembly. Amid opposition from the opposition, Chairman Padhi allowed the Question Hour for about 30 minutes. The BJD MLAs lodged a symbolic protest in the assembly premises for the Chief Minister not being present in the House for two consecutive days. The BJD MLAs also staged a sit -in outside the Chief Minister’s room.
