Du new course admission: The University of Delhi (DU) has decided to start special studies in nuclear medicine under an important initiative. This course will be started in collaboration with Army Hospital (Research and Referral), which aims to promote expertise in the country’s military personnel and medical fields. DU Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh and Executive Council (Executive Council) approved this historic decision in the 1275th meeting of the DU Executive Council i.e. EC on Friday, which is a big step towards making the university a pioneer in the field of medical education and research.
Importance of nuclear medicine course
According to the information received, the BSc in Nuclear Medicine Technology Course will be held for three years. This course will be conducted by the Radiology Department. Students will also be given a chance to do one year internship. Nuclear medicine is a specialized medical field, in which radionuclides are used for diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, such as cancer, heart disease and neurological disorders. This course will train students in safe use of radioactive materials, non-invasive imaging techniques and clinical processes. This course launched by DU will not only reveal new possibilities in medical education, but will also contribute to military and civil health services.
Who can take admission in BSC nuclear medicine?
The candidate applying for this course should be employed in the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), here his service should be completed 6 years and his service record should also be good. Apart from this, the candidate is required to pass with at least 50% marks with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany and Zoology subjects in 12th from CBSE, CISCE or any other recognized board. English is also mandatory in 12th. However, admission can also be given to Indian Air Force and Navy medical assistants on the basis of equivalent criteria in related medical services on vacant seats.
Nuclear medicine studies in other institutions
Nuclear Medicine in Delhi is already available in institutions such as All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS). AIIMS MD Nuclear Medicine is a 3-year postgraduate course in Delhi, for which a valid score in INI-CET exam is required. The fee for this course is around Rs 4,651 and has 16 seats available. At the same time, Diploma in Radiation Medicine (2-year course) is offered in INMAS, which has only 4 seats and entry through NEET-PG. This new course of DU will help in increasing the number of experts in the region in collaboration with these institutions.
