Whatsapp new feature: Whatsapp is working on a new feature that will allow users to talk to those who have neither WhatsApp account nor app installed. According to WABETAINFO report, this feature is currently in the testing stage in Android beta version 2.25.22.13 and can be rolled out in the coming weeks.
How will the new guest chat feature work?
The name of this feature will be “Guest Chats”, in which WhatsApp users will be able to start direct chat with non-user through an invoice link. The special thing is that the receiver will neither need to install WhatsApp nor to create an account. They will be able to access the chat through a secure web interface by clicking on the link.
Privacy is also full secure
Whatsapp claims that all the messages of guest chats will be end-to-end encrypted, so that only those who send and get will be able to see the messages. This feature will be completely based on WhatsApp’s internal system, which will make experience smooth and reliable.
There will also be some limitations
However, guest chat will also have some restrictions:
- Will not be able to share photos, videos or gif
- There will be no voice and video message option
- Calling facility will not be available
- This feature will only be for one-on-one chat, group chat will not be supported
What is Whatsapp’s strategy?
WhatsApp probably wants to give non-users an easy way to try the app through this feature so that people without full signup can experience chatting. This can be a low-fiction way to connect them to the world of Whatsapp.
How long will this feature get?
Currently, the company is doing internal testing of this feature. Its official launch date has not been announced but in the coming months it can be available for beta users and then there is a possibility of public rollout.
