BITCHAT: Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsi has launched his new messaging app BITCAT for iPhone users. This app is now available for download on Apple App Store. The most important thing is that the Internet is not needed at all to use BITCHAT.
How does BITCHAT work?
BITCHAT uses Bluetooth Low Energy (Ble) Mesh Networking technology instead of internet or mobile data. This means that this creates a local network between the nearby devices (in a range of about 30 meters). As the users move, their phone itself acts like a “message relay” from which the message can be transported for long distances without internet.
No registration, no phone number
In this app, the user does not have to give any kind of sign up, phone number or email ID. There is not even a central server that saves messages. All messages are stored only on the user’s device and after some time they are automatically deleted. BITCHAT is completely end-to-end encrypted, which makes chatting more secure.
Emergency and internet shutdown will be helped
Because this app is independent of the Internet, it can be extremely useful under the circumstances where the internet is closed or the network is not present, such as a disaster, far-flung areas or internet shutdowns installed by the government.
Warning for security also continued
Although this app claims to be secure, Jack Dorsi himself has given a warning on its Github page. It is written that BITCHAT has not yet passed any external security audit and may have possible weaknesses. So do not use it for production at the moment and do not rely completely on its safety until it is completely tested.
