Pritish Panda, Special Work Officer (OSD) of the Odisha Family Directorate, said that according to the administration, 143 people were working in the factory at the time of the explosion. Some people from Odisha were working in different sections. Four of them were killed, four were injured, one of whom is in critical condition and five others are still missing. The deceased of Odisha have been identified as R Jaganmohan, resident of Chhatur in Ganjam district, Lagnjit Duari, resident of Tigiria in Cuttack district, Manoj Raut, resident of Simulia in Balasor district and Dolgovind Sahu, resident of Dharamshala in Jajpur district.

The injured include Sameer Padhi of Ganjam district, Chandan Kumar Nayak of Bhadrak, Nilambar Bhadra and Chitrasen Batra of Nabrangpur. Sameer Padhi’s condition is critical and has been burnt up to 35 percent and has been admitted to the ICU. We are in Sangreddy district to provide necessary assistance to the people of the state. The state government has formed a team to investigate the incident. The committee will be chaired by Dr. B Venkateswara Rao, an Emeritus scientist at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology. The team has to submit a detailed report with specific suggestions and recommendations to the government within a month.
