Work is going on rapidly on expanding 4G connectivity in the country and by next year 4G connectivity will reach every corner of the country. Central Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia told the Lok Sabha that work is going on to provide fast connectivity even in remote and border areas. He said that the government has installed 25,000 towers this year and now it is being expanded rapidly in the states. The remaining 12,000 towers will be installed next year.
Special attention to border areas in Jammu and Kashmir
Scindia said that there is network problem in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. To overcome this, many towers will be installed in these areas. Answering a question, he said that due to the delay in getting permission at the state level and the time taken in ground survey, this work had slowed down, but now the project is progressing at full speed. He assured that after the installation of the tower, 4G mobile service will reach these areas also and people will be able to get help in healthcare and their routine work along with studies.
Sanchar Saathi App not mandatory
Amidst the controversy over preloading Sanchar Sathi app in smartphones, the government has stepped back. The opposition alleged that the government can spy on people through this app. Giving clarification on this, Scindia said that spying cannot be done in any way through this app. He said that this platform helps in finding lost and missing phones and preventing fraud. The order to preload it in the phone has been withdrawn. Now users can use it as per their wish. It can be downloaded from official app stores.
