Rob Jetton is 38 years old, he can become the youngest PM of the country.

Rob Jetton, leader of the centrist liberal ‘Democrats 66 Party’ (D66) in the Netherlands, may become the next PM of the country. According to exit polls, his party may get around 30 seats, which is equal to the party ‘For Freedom’ (PVV) of hard-right leader Geert Wilders.

If these exit polls are converted into actual figures, then 38-year-old Rob will also become the country’s youngest and first openly gay PM. Jetton is going to marry her fiance Nicholas Keenan next year. Nicolas is a player of the Argentina men’s hockey team. Both met in the supermarket.

This result will be a big blow for Geert Wilders. He ran his election campaign against the policies of Muslim immigrants, homosexuals and climate change. In 2022, when Nupur Sharma gave a controversial statement on Prophet Mohammad, Geert Wilders openly supported her.

Became famous when Tiktok video went viral

In 2021, a bromance trading video between Jetten and a fellow Dutch politician went viral on TikTok. In this, both the leaders were seen having fun, laughing and dancing with each other.

Rob Jetton became famous among the youth in the Netherlands after the video went viral. During that time, Jetton met hockey player Nicholas Keenan. Apart from playing for Argentina’s national team, Keenan also plays in European leagues.

Keenan recognized Jetton in a supermarket and a conversation began from there. Jetton later said in an interview that he had no idea that a TikTok trend would change his life so much. Both of them got engaged last year in November 2024.

Jeton started political career in 2017

Rob Jetton was born in 1987. He is the leader of the D66 party, which is a party with progressive and liberal ideas. Jeton made his political debut in 2017 by becoming an MP. From 2022 to 2024, he was the Minister of Climate and Energy. Also Deputy PM from January 2024 to July 2024.

Earlier he was called ‘Robot Jeton’ because he used to get stuck on the camera, but this time he changed the image and connected with the people. In the last elections in 2023, D66 had got only 9 seats, but this time Jeton reorganized the party.

He accused Wilders of ‘hijacking Dutch identity’. Now the process of forming alliance will start. Jetten said they would form a strong and stable coalition, which would include centre-left to rightwing parties.

Jetton has told supporters that we will dream big and take big steps. The Netherlands will advance again. Wilders said that he will try his best to stop D66 from becoming PM. However, most parties have refused an alliance with the PVV.
