Mohammed siraj, ipl 2025: In the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gujarat Titans (GT) fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is seen in tremendous form. Siraj’s balls are spewing fire. Siraj took four wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 6 April (Sunday). This was his best performance in the IPL so far. The big thing is that Siraj threw 17 dot balls in his spell. Siraj settled Sunrisers’ salute pair (Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma) in Powerplay. Then in the death over, Aniket Sharma and Simarjit Singh went on.
‘Intakam’ was also taken from the old team
Mohammad Siraj received the second consecutive ‘Player of the Match’ award for this performance. Siraj had earlier bowled a similar bowling against his old team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Then he took three wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Siraj’s performance was also strong against Mumbai Indians (Mi) and he was successful in taking two wickets. However, Siraj did not get any wicket in the initial match of Gujarat Titans against Punjab Kings.
Mohammad Siraj has landed in the IPL this time with ‘Tut Dil’ and he is giving his best with the ball. Siraj was dropped from the Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2025, which was a very difficult moment for him. Not only this, Siraj was released by Royal Challengers Benguluru before the IPL 2025 auction. Siraj made a debut in IPL in 2017 for Sanrajers Hyderabad, but after that he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2018 to 2024. That is, the team of RCB was close to their heart, so that going away was no less than a setback.
If seen, one reason for Mohammad Siraj’s better performance in IPL 2025 is the use of saliva on the ball. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had banned the decades-old practice of saliva to shine the ball as a precaution during the Kovid-19 epidemic and later in 2022 the world institution made the ban permanent. Due to the ban on saliva, the bowlers were not getting that much swing, especially in T20 cricket and the batsmen were scoring a lot of runs.
Siraj shone as soon as the old rule returns
Now the Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) has re -implemented the old rule after the consent of the captains, due to which Mohammad Siraj is seen in new color. Siraj is able to reverse the ball with the use of saliva and is getting movement on both sides from the pitch. Due to this, the batsmen are having trouble. Siraj also believes that the use of saliva on the ball is helping him.
Mohammad Siraj said after giving the match to the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, ‘I am enjoying it very much. I have worked on my bowling and fitness. I feel refreshed and enjoying bowling. If the ball reverse a little due to the use of saliva, then it becomes easy for the batsman to bold or LBW out.
Mohammad Siraj has taken 9 wickets at an economy rate of 7.75 by playing four matches in IPL 2025. He is jointly at number two with Delhi Capitals (DC) Mitchell Starc in terms of taking the most wickets in the current season. Beyond Siraj, only Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner Noor Ahmed, who has taken 10 wickets in 4 matches. 31 -year -old Siraj has played 97 matches in the IPL so far, with 102 wickets at an average of 28.88 in his name.
