Opposition parties targeted the central government on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump imposed 25 per cent tariffs and fine on Indian goods. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s friendship with Trump has been no benefit.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Modi should take inspiration from former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and stand firm in front of the President of America. He wrote on the social media platform X, Trump has imposed 25 % tariffs and fine on imports from India. The program like ‘praise’, ‘Howdy Modi’ between him and Modi had no effect.
Ramesh said, Modi felt that if he remained silent on the derogatory things made by the President of America on India – such as stopping operation vermilion, giving special feast to the Pakistani army chief, providing help to Pakistan from IMF and World Bank – then India would get special status from America. But nothing like this happened.
