Kerala Woman Misbehave Case: Last month, a large -scale protests have started in Kerala due to the behavior of a Dalit woman in police custody in the false case of theft last month. The woman narrated her tragedy in front of the media on Monday (May 19, 2025). After the protest, a sub-inspector was suspended for taking the woman into custody without any initial investigation.
According to the report of Indian Express, 18 grams of gold was allegedly stolen from a house in Thiruvananthapuram. This woman used to work in this house. On 23 April, a case was registered in this regard by the police of the city. The same evening this woman was called to the police station, where she said that a woman policeman investigated her to find out if she had not hidden the stolen thing with her.
What did the woman say?
The victim said, “I pleaded with the police that I had not stolen the chain and pendant. When the police could not recover anything from me, they took me to a house for searching. Then brought me back to the police station, where I was forced to stay all night. I was not given food or water and was not given gold. When I asked for drinking water, they asked me to bring water from the toilet.”
When a new twist in the case came in the case
The next day, the new twist in the case came when the complainant told the police that the gold stolen at his house has been found. After this, the woman was released from police custody. Later, the victim woman lodged separate complaints before the Chief Minister’s political secretary P Shashi, the state police chief and the SC/ST Commission. Within a few days, an Assistant Police Commissioner recorded his statement and promised action.
Although the woman was given confidence, but no action was taken. After this, the woman talked to the media and heard her tragedy. Journalists were informed after the whole incident. When this matter broke in the media, action was taken in the case again and the sub -inspector who took the woman into custody was suspended.
What did the opposition say?
Opposition leader and Congress’s V.D. Satishan alleged that this incident reveals the government’s apathy towards the weaker sections of the society. He said, “The government has no right to celebrate its fourth anniversary. The incident with a Dalit woman shows that the safety of women is a hollow promise.”
