A tough contest was seen between the candidates in Narayan (139), Ashok Vihar (65) wards. In some wards the victory margin was quite large, while in others the close contest kept the voters’ curiosity alive.

Expansion

Even after the by-election results of 12 wards of Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) were revealed, BJP’s position in the House could not change. BJP registered a strong presence in the elections by winning maximum seven seats, but despite this the party has failed to reach the magical majority figure of 126. After the by-election, the number of BJP councilors in the House has increased to 123, i.e. three less than the majority. In such a situation, to retain the command of MCD, BJP will still have to depend on 15 councilors of Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP).
