Actress Ruhi Singh’s film ‘Masti 4’ is going to be released in theaters soon. During a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, the actress said that working with a team like producer Indra Kumar and director Milap Zaveri in ‘Masti 4’ was like a dream come true for her.

From the experience of shooting in the UK to preparing for the comedy character, every step was a learning opportunity for him. She considers her deep relationship with her parents, especially her father, as her strength. Here are some key excerpts from the conversation with Ruhi Singh.

Question: ‘Masti 4’ was a big opportunity for you. How did you meet and how was the experience?

answer: When I got the offer for the film, I was very happy because it is being made by Indu ji (Indra Kumar) and Milap Zaveri is the director. The star cast is also fantastic. I thought this was a good opportunity to showcase my talent. The shooting took place in the UK, and I prepared a lot for my role. This experience was very special for me.

Question: What preparations did you do for the character?

answer: It is a comedy film, so I wanted my acting to be natural and heartfelt. I watched many comedy films and paid special attention to my lines so that I could add something new and funny to it. I believe that if you are confident and comfortable in comedy, then funny dialogues come easily, and I tried to bring this in my character.

‘Masti 4’ will be released on 21 November 2025.

Question: What was your most memorable moment during the shooting?

answer: The shooting of the entire film was memorable. I used to take every scene very seriously, even in comedy. She used to work hard on her lines all night long. Then my mother said to enjoy a little. Later, when we all celebrated the birthday of Ritesh ji’s wife Genelia ma’am on the set, that moment felt very special.

Question: You started with modeling and beauty pageants. When did you think of making a career in the industry? Where did this idea come from?

answer: Since childhood, I wanted to do something big. I am from Jaipur. As a child, I wanted to come on stage and be seen in front of people. I always participated in dance and other competitions. Where others feel stage fright, I felt happy being there. I always wanted to be out and be seen in front of people.

My grandfather was in the Indian Army. He supported me a lot. I told them I wanted to become a pop star. Nanaji took me in his car and made me join guitar and singing classes and supported me in whatever I wanted to do. I started participating in pageants and stages from school itself and was selected every time.

I always had fun and never thought about what people were thinking. With positive thinking, my hard work without any support paid off and today I have a big film like ‘Masti 4’.

Question: So why didn’t you participate further, like in Miss World or Miss Universe?

answer: I represented India at international level thrice. Miss Model of the World, Miss United Nations in China and Miami. I have done many pageants, then worked in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Calendar Girls’ and thought, enough is enough.

For me, the purpose of pageants was to see the world and get exposure. Wanted to get out of Jaipur and meet different people. I went abroad for the first time to represent India, my father also went with me, which was my dream.

Question: Have you lost your passion for singing?

answer: No, still a hobby. I will definitely sing my song after becoming a little more famous. My dream is to make an international album one day.

Question: When you came to Mumbai, what kind of challenges did you face?

answer: When I came to Mumbai, this city was new and difficult for me. People were different, but I remained patient. Many people supported me, but some said that I would not be successful. But I never give up because I believe I can. I am still trying to understand this industry, but I am trying my best to reach my destination alone.

Question: Remember the first audition?

answer: No, I don’t remember the first one, I have given many auditions. Most of them did not get selected, especially for ads. There was a new audition every day in Aaram Nagar. Got rejections many times, but that became the biggest learning. Be sad one day, but get up again the next day. Controlled myself, motivated myself.

The film “Calendar Girls” was released on 25 September 2015.

Question: How did you meet Madhur Bhandarkar?

answer: I went to an audition, where I met Madhur Bhandarkar. I auditioned for ‘Mayuri Chauhan’ and he selected me right away. He said, ‘We have found Mayuri!’ After the release of the film ‘Calendar Girls’, people still remember me as Mayuri.

Question: When the film ‘Calendar Girls’ was released, what was the sweetest compliment you received? Whom did you meet?

answer: My parents said that I looked exactly like Ruhi on screen, as if I had not acted. The audience also liked my work very much. People often used to say the line from my film – ‘This girl will go far’, I found it to be the sweetest compliment.

Question: What reaction did you get from the industry?

answer: People from the industry who saw the film liked my work. But as we thought that many offers will come after the film, it did not happen.

Question: Why weren’t you offered films?

answer: Because that film did not work. But I worked hard and it was a good fortune for me to work with a National Award winning director like Madhur Bhandarkar ji. Whether a film works or not depends on luck, it is not in anyone’s hands.

Question- When the courage broke, where did the strength come from?

answer- I have great support from my parents, especially my mother, who is my best friend and inspiration. I have a strong determination that I will definitely achieve my destination. People say in school that it is not easy to reach the top, but I believe that one day my best time will also come.

Question: Tell us a little about your parents.

answer: My father is very close to me, he is my life. He always tells me stories. I am doing the upcoming film ‘Masti 4’ for my parents. I want him to be proud of me, because my dad is my whole world.

He tells a story – of a magician who had great power. He could achieve whatever he wanted, but his life resided in a parrot. That was his weakness.

So I just want to say that I am not that parrot, but for me my father is everything. The work I am doing is only so that my parents are proud of me. Without them all this means nothing.

Question: Tell us about where you studied.

answer: I studied in Xavier’s School, Jaipur. Since childhood, I have been good in sports and studies. I received many certificates and awards. I have also learned martial arts and kick boxing. Now I am studying law. I am going to give the exam after the release of the film ‘Masti 4’. I want to do BBA, LLB and Masters.

Question: Apart from ‘Masti 4’, is there any new offer or will you think about it after the release of the film?

answer: Right now some things are under discussion, but I want the film to be released first. If people like the film and my work, I will get more good offers in future.
