A fierce fire broke out in some paint factories on Saturday evening in Barasat in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The fire also engulfed the warehouses of the factories. According to the police, 20 fire engines reached the spot on the information of the fire, which are busy in controlling the fire.

Police said that the paint factories which are on fire are in Bamunmora area under Kadambagchi Panchayat. A police officer said that there is no news of anyone being injured in the fire yet. Efforts are being made to control the fire.

According to the police officer, the fire started at around 7.30 pm. The fire spread rapidly due to excessive burning substances in factories. He said that at least 20 fire engines are present on the spot to control the fire. Also policemen are also deployed on the spot. He said that the cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.

The area was evacuated as a precautionary measure
According to Ranveer Kumar, Director General of Firefighting and Emergency Services, firefighters are engaged in extinguishing the fire. The area has been evacuated as a precaution. Officials said that Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh is also on the spot and is taking stock of the situation.
