A violent clash broke out on Thursday (December 18) between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress workers, who were celebrating victory in the block committee elections in Punjab. According to the information, AAP leaders were taking out a victory procession, during which Congressmen also came there. After which there was an argument between them.
Aam Aadmi Party workers allege that they were beaten up badly. After this firing was done, in which more than five people were injured. The condition of four of these people is critical. They have been identified as Gurmukh Singh (65), Ravindra Singh (44), Gurdeep Singh (32), Udamveer Singh (25) and Mandeep Singh (36). All three have been immediately admitted to the hospital.
Protest demanding arrest
This matter is of Bachittar Nagar located in Gill area. Police has reached the spot after the incident. The case is being investigated. Statements of the injured are also being recorded. Angry people have staged a protest demanding the arrest of the accused.
AAP accused Congress leader
Injured Ravinder Singh, admitted in the hospital, told that he was taking out a thanksgiving rally in the area to celebrate the victory of Aam Aadmi Party. After which Congress leader Jasbir Singh started abusing on the spot. We didn’t tell him anything. He got angry and started fighting. He clashed with many people and opened fire. According to Ravinder, 15 to 20 bullets were fired. 3 to 4 people of the village have been injured. Those who were injured had bullets on their legs.
Meanwhile, AAP workers staged a protest outside the police station and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. On the other hand, the police of Sadar police station is talking about investigating the matter but is avoiding saying anything in front of the camera.
