Lucknow Woman is the latest Victim of Digital Arrest Lost Rs 1.24 Lakh

Lucknow Woman Digital Arrest: The ever increasing cases of digital arrest have caused concern. The new incident has come out from Alambagh in Lucknow. Thugs got Rs 1.24 lakh transferred by digital arrested a woman there. When the woman realized this, she lodged a complaint with the police. Police have said that in such cases, thugs cheat the victim by seeking his personal and financial information. In the current case, the woman received a WhatsApp call. What happened after that? According to the TOI report, the name of the victim is Ekta Chaturvedi. He has told in the police complaint that on 18 October 2024, WhatsApp call came from a number. The person in front claimed that he was talking to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI. The caller told Ekta that his Aadhaar card is linked to two mobile numbers i.e. there are two SIMs in his name. The caller called one SIM valid while the other was unauthorized that the second SIM is being used in money laundering.

After this, the matter of unity was made to someone by telling the headquarters of the Mumbai Police. Ekta was asked to transfer money to two bank accounts. Surprisingly, Ekta also did so. He transferred 64 thousand rupees and 60 thousand rupees for the second time.

As soon as the money was received, the thugs made their number off. Ekta called and wanted to know what to do further, then he realized the cheating with him. An FIR has now been registered in this case.

Digital arrest is a fraud in which criminals present themselves as government officials. People join video calls and ask them to fulfill the demand for money by taking them in their trust. The victim is implicated in the trap in such a way that he is forced to pay for the money.

Thugs are taking help of technology to carry out digital arrest scam. They are making fake offices, police stations. Government officials are wearing clothes. Using apps used for video conferencing are using. The victims are stuck in video calls for several hours.
