Google has launched an amazing feature for Android in India, which can save the lives of users in emergency situations. This feature has been named Emergency Location Service (ELS). This feature has gone live for the first time in India and it has started from Uttar Pradesh. This feature built into Google’s Android operating system shares the user’s location with emergency services as soon as he dials the emergency number, so that the user will be able to know where he needs help.
This feature will be very useful in such situations
In many emergency situations, people get nervous or are unable to share their location clearly due to injury. Sometimes due to weak network signal they are not able to share the location. In such a situation, ELS will automatically share the location while making an emergency call or SMS.
How to use?
This feature is available on versions after Android 6.0. Since this feature is built into the Android system itself, the user does not need to download any separate app for this. Keep in mind that this feature is activated only in emergency. This means that when the user dials 112 or any other emergency number, it will automatically share your location with emergency services. This feature will also share the device language so that the emergency responder can know in which language to talk to the user. With its help, it will help in sending police, medical or fire services to the right place.
How is location shared?
As soon as a user calls or messages the emergency number, this feature will detect his location with the help of GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular network. Then this information is sent to emergency services and its accuracy can be up to 50 meters. Once the phone is connected, the location will be shared even if the call is dropped.
