Just a few days ago, Abhishek Nair has become the new head coach of KKR, while now Shane Watson has joined the Kolkata team as an assistant coach. Watson has previously been the assistant coach of Delhi Capitals team and will be returning to IPL after 3 years. Watson’s IPL career as a player was 145 matches.
Shane Watson expressed his happiness on becoming the assistant coach and said, “I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff and players, so that Kolkata can win another title.” As a player, Shane Watson played 145 matches in his IPL career, in which he scored 3874 runs with the help of 4 centuries and 21 half-centuries. He also took a total of 92 wickets while bowling medium pace.
Shane Watson had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in the year 2020. He was last seen playing in the Indian Premier League in 2020. After retirement, he worked with many franchises and has established a good reputation as a coach.

Watson, who retired in 2020, was one of the greatest all-rounder players in the history of white ball cricket. He scored 5757 runs in his 190-match ODI career. He has 3731 runs in his name in 59 Test matches and has scored 1462 runs in 58 T20 matches. Watson also scored 14 centuries and 67 half-centuries in his international career. Watson is also one of the few Australian players who has scored at least one century in all three formats. Apart from this, he took 291 wickets in bowling.
