Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1, accused the central government of neglecting the Kannada language. The Chief Minister said that the Center gives ample grants to Hindi and Sanskrit, but classical languages ​​like Kannada are not getting the same support. Siddaramaiah said that the Central Government is giving generous grants for the promotion of Hindi and Sanskrit, but Kannada does not get the same support, this is injustice to the language.
Siddaramaiah said in his speech that Kannada is one of the oldest languages ​​of India. Its literary tradition, culture and art have deeply influenced Indian civilization. Still, it is not being given the priority it should get in the language policy of the Central Government. He said that this situation is against the principle of constitutional equality and the Center should take immediate steps to create a separate fund and institutional structure for the development of Kannada language.
Center accused of discrimination
The Chief Minister said that Hindi and Sanskrit are being given special importance in the language policy of the Centre, while other Indian languages ​​Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Malayalam are deprived of equal opportunities. He said that if the Center really wants one India, a better India, then it will have to provide equal economic and policy support to all languages.
Strongly oppose anti-Kannada attitude
The Chief Minister asked the people to unite to protect the language, culture and tradition of Karnataka. Kannada is our soul. No force can take us away from our language. He urged people to contribute to the preservation of the language by participating in Kannada Day, literary festivals and local cultural programs.
