Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday celebrated the tea industry of Assam, being a part of the ‘Jhumir Binandini’ program of the Assam government at Sarusjai Stadium in Guwahati. In this program, 8,000 artists from different parts of Assam performed brilliantly of Jhumoir dance. The dance is an important part of the tea garden workers and tribal community of Assam, and it began at the time of the establishment of tea gardens in the 19th century.
What is Jhumoir Dance?
Let us know that Jhumoir dances are a symbol of happiness and unity for the dancing workers after their day -long hard work. Today it has become the identity of the tea community of Assam. The event consisted of 5,399 female dancers, 2,175 male dancers and 2,074 musicians, who came together to perform traditional chandelier dances. Assam’s tea industry is 200 years old and provides employment and livelihood to millions of people. This industry is famous all over the world for its aromatic and colorful tea.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the glimpses of the Jhumoir Binandini program on X and described it as a great experience. He wrote that every moment of Jhumor Binandini was pure magic! This was an experience that touched the soul. PM Modi said that this program made the celebration of the completion of 200 years of Assam tea special by linking it with history, culture and emotions. He also saluted the culture of the tea tribes of Assam and their deeper relations with their own land. Along with this, PM Modi appreciated all the artists participating in the program and saluted the culture and traditions of Assam.

PM Modi addressed the people
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there was an atmosphere full of energy, enthusiasm and enthusiasm in the Jhumoir Binandini program. He appreciated the magnificent preparations of all the artists participating in the program, in which the fragrance and beauty of tea gardens was clearly visible. PM Modi said that just as people have a deep association with tea gardens and chandeliers dance, similarly they also have a special relationship with it. He also said that according to the Prime Minister’s Office, such a large number of artists will set a new record in this program to present a new record.

Introduction to India’s diversity and culture
The Prime Minister emphasized that such grand events show not only the pride of Assam, but also the diversity of India. He reminded that there was a time when Assam and Northeast were ignored in terms of development and culture, but now the Northeast region has become a representative of its culture. PM Modi also said that he is the first Prime Minister to promote its biodiversity by staying in Kaziranga, Assam.

The Prime Minister termed the Assamese language status of classical language and the inclusion of Charaidev Moidem in the UNESCO World Heritage List for Assam. Both these achievements are the result of his government’s efforts. PM Modi is currently on a two -day visit to Assam and will inaugurate the “Advantage Assam 2.0” program tomorrow.
