The deceased has been identified as 21 -year -old Priyanka Ahirwar. She was a resident of Bagda village of Bhander police station area of ​​Datia district of Madhya Pradesh. Priyanka was a first year student of BA and her marriage was decided in Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh. The wedding was to be held on 6 May and the wedding cards were also distributed.

The family said that on Wednesday, when parents and brothers went to Chirgaon in Jhansi to take dowry goods, Priyanka was at home with her 10-year-old maternal sister. At the same time, the youth of the village entered the house and closed the door.
Mama Surendra told that the young man pressured to break the marriage and forcibly fed 3-4 bullets of sulfas to Priyanka. On protesting, the girl escaped by slapping.
