Every year on 14 November, Nehru’s birth anniversary is celebrated as Children’s Day. My tribute to him. We remember his contribution to the freedom struggle and his role as the first Prime Minister of independent India. Nehru, fondly known as Chacha Nehru to children, was one of the prominent leaders of India’s independence movement. He played an important role in showing new paths to the country after independence. His vision of promoting democracy, secularism and scientific thinking is still considered a part of India’s identity. As the country’s first Prime Minister after independence, Nehru strengthened the parliamentary system, laid the foundation of scientific institutions and promoted industries. He included education, research and development among the country’s priorities to build a modern India.
