Jammu kashmir news transportation of vegetables and fuel resume today on srinagar leh highway

Jammu kashmir news: The freight transportation of fresh vegetables, fuel and other essential commodities on the Srinagar-Ladakh highway started again, as vehicles laden with goods were allowed to go to Kargil after three months.

This movement is an important step towards ensuring the supply of essential commodities in the remote hill region, which is facing lack of essential commodities, especially fresh vegetables and meat.

The officials confirmed the reopening of the highway for heavy vehicles, saying that the freight convoy with more than two hundred trucks and Tata mobile vehicles left for Kargil on Friday morning under strict traffic management protocol.

This route, which is often interrupted due to snowfall and meteorological challenges, is considered a lifeline for Ladakh. Officials said that for the first time after the road closure in December last year, freight vehicles were also allowed today.

Local traders and residents welcomed the resume, as it ensures the timely compensation of delayed stock and supply due to winter shutdown. The Srinagar-Ladakh highway connects Kashmir to the Union Territory of Ladakh and is one of the two main roads connecting the region, the other is the Manali-Leh highway, which is closed due to heavy snowfall.
