Swarnjit Khalsa talking about swearing in Norwich and the possibilities of development here.
Swarnjit, a resident of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar in Jalandhar and who became the first Sikh mayor of Norwich from America, has invited Punjabis to come. Currently only 10 Sikh families live in Norwich. Swarnjit Singh Khasla says that there is still a lot of potential for development in Norwich.
,
People from all over the world including Punjabis can come here and start their business. Investments can be made here, so that Norwich can be made a developed city. Now his swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 2.
Swarnjit Singh Khasla said that he wants to take Norwich to the heights of development and wants Punjabi brothers to also contribute in this. There are many opportunities in education in Norwich, including construction work. In the education sector here, he is giving free education to the children, but there are still many children who are deprived of education.
New schools will have to be opened for them. Swarnjit said that when he came to Jalandhar, he saw the bad condition of development here. That’s why did community work here. The people here welcomed him and gave him a lot of love. Swarnjit’s father Parampal Singh Khalsa said that this is the victory of the entire Jalandhar. Swarnjit was nervous before the results, then I encouraged him. At last the Guru gave us victory.
Swarnjeet Khasla of Jalandhar became the first Sikh mayor of Norwich.
After Canada-Australia, new Punjab will be established here
Swarnjit Singh Khasla said that now I will start working as Mayor of Norwich on 2 December. Punjabis should come here and work hard so that a new Punjab can be established here like Canada and Australia. Currently only 10 families from Punjab live here. Despite Punjab having so few families, Gurupurva, Diwali and other festivals of India are celebrated here.
Swarnjit said that there is a lot of potential in this city. There is a need for people doing many types of work here. Now the command here will also be in the hands of a Punjabi, hence the people of Punjab should come here and establish a new Punjab.
Parminder Pal Khasla, father of Swarnjit Khalsa.
Swarnjeet’s father told stories of becoming mayor He was scared before the results, I encouraged him. Father Parminder Singh Khasla told at his home in Jalandhar that it was the whites who fielded him for the mayor election. The Democratic Party had set it up there. The sitting mayor there was from the Republican Party. He had tried his best to defeat Swarnjeet. Swarnjit was very nervous before the result, then I encouraged him that we are Guru’s sons. Dasham Pita has taught us to be determined and achieve victory. When the results came, Swarnjeet won. Only white people collected funds and did campaigns The father told that there is no system there like in India that only those with money can contest elections. There should be a vision, people choose only that and make it win. There it was the whites who campaigned and raised funds for Swarnjit. There funds can be raised only to a limited extent and money can also be spent only to a limited extent in elections. I also participated in the campaign. Elections are fought there in a very smooth manner. There is no noise like here. The glitter and glamor of money does not work. Can’t even spend your money in elections. Not us but entire Jalandhar and Punjab won Parminder Pal Singh Khasla said that my heart is very happy. My son has today become the first Sikh mayor of Norwich. He did his schooling from Swami Sant Das Public School and graduated from DAV. He has also been smart in studies. This is not a victory for me or my son but for the entire Jalandhar and Punjab. He was born, played and grew up in this city. When Swarnjit Singh went to America, a terrorist attack took place there soon after. After this, racial attacks on Sikhs started. Worked to highlight the identity of Sikhs and change the mindset of American people towards Sikhs. The fight against separatism and racism gave recognition Swarnjit did a lot of work for the Sikhs in America. From the bus stand to the railway station, boards were put up giving information about who Sikhs are. He told that we are not Taliban, we ran a campaign to highlight what our gurus have taught us and how we serve the world and humanity. This changed the mentality towards Sikhs in America. America’s agency FBI kept a close eye on its campaign. After this Swarnjeet was called. Swarnjit taught Gatka to the people there for FBI. After this the FBI honored. There was a lot of closeness with the whites, none of it in our Punjab Norwich. The father told that when Swarnjit went to Norwich, there were hardly any Punjabis there, even now there are none. Hardly 10 houses belong to Punjabis. It worked very well for the white majority there. Ran a gas station there. Made arrangements for free food for the people. Taught poor children. Due to this the whites started liking it. We grew closer to him. After this, the people there raised their voice that Khasla is the most educated person here, hence he should be made the chairman of the Education Board. Khalsa was forcefully contested by the whites and made the head of the Education Board from there. After this he was made a councilor there twice.
