IPL player Vipraj Nigam, resident of Barabanki in UP, has been threatened by a woman named Richa Purohit. Vipraj received a call from an international number. The woman demanded money from the cricketer. Said- If the demands are not met, I will make the video viral. I will defame the entire family.

Vipraj Nigam told, the woman has been blackmailing him since September. He has filed a case in the city police station of Barabanki at around 4 pm on Sunday evening. Vipraj said- He is mentally disturbed after receiving the threatening call.

Vipraj is an all rounder player. He plays for Delhi Capitals team. He is a right-handed batsman and leg break bowler. At the age of 20, Vipraj Nigam has gained recognition across the country with his game. He caught everyone’s attention with his brilliant performance in the 2024-25 IPL. Before IPL, Vipraj created a stir with his bowling and batting in the UPT20 league.

‘I Vipraj Nigam, son of Vijay Kumar Nigam, resident of Bhatkheda Ward, Haidergarh, District Barabanki (Present address – Nagar Kotwali, District Barabanki).

Since September 2025, I have been receiving continuous threatening calls and messages from Richa Purohit (mobile no. 92369XXXXX). When I blocked this number, Richa Purohit started sending threatening calls and messages from several international numbers — 98100XXXXX, 13475XXXXX, 17423762299 etc.

These constant threats are warning me that if I do not comply with her demands, she will implicate me in false and serious criminal cases. Besides, the caller is also trying to defame me publicly by making false and objectionable video-photos viral.

I am being mentally harassed. There is a serious threat to my safety and reputation. This appears to be a deliberate attempt to intimidate, threaten and blackmail me.

Please register my complaint and get the matter thoroughly investigated and take strict legal action against the concerned.

Vipraj’s domestic career The 20-year-old all-rounder took 20 wickets in 12 matches while playing for Lucknow Falcons in the Uttar Pradesh T-20 League 2024. He was the second highest wicket taker. However, Vipraj started his career as a batting-all-rounder. He has played three matches so far in first class cricket. Meanwhile, he has achieved 13 successes in six innings at an average of 31.07.

At the age of 10, his father assigned him to a coach. Vipraj practices with coach Sarwar Nawab at the Youth Cricket Club of Barabanki. When Vipraj was 10 years old, his father brought him to Vijay Nigam coach Sarwar Nawab. Vipraj’s father is a teacher.

Vipraj used to bat from the beginning. He was also interested in spin bowling. Vipraj was also selected in the Under-14 UP team as a batsman.

Delhi Capitals had selected Vipraj as a bowler only.

Got a chance to bowl with UP team in Under-19 Vipraj did not get a chance to bat in the Under-16 zonal level tournament. In such a situation, he could not be selected in the zonal team. Because of this he could not even play in the state team. At the same time, during the Under-19 trials, the selectors recognized his bowling skills and gave him a place in the team.

Not only this, he started bowling from UP Under-19 and he was the best bowler at that time. For this reason, he was also selected as a bowler in the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Along with taking wickets, he also scored runs for UP in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last year. He was the second top wicket taker in the UP Premier Cricket League last year. Delhi Capitals also selected him as a bowler.
