IPL 2026: ‘Times have changed’, Deepak Chahar congratulated Rahul Chahar and Karthik Sharma on joining CSK

The auction for the Indian Premier League 2026 was held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. CSK bought Rahul Chahar and Karthik Sharma in the auction. All-rounder Deepak Chahar has congratulated Rahul and Karthik on becoming a part of the CSK family.

In a video posted on CSK’s official

He said, “The biggest problem for our family is who to support now. It is good for both of us that we are playing for the best franchise. Ask any player, he wants to be a part of CSK or MI.”

Deepak said, “My father is the happiest at this time. Along with both his sons, a student, Karthik Sharma, has also become a part of CSK.”

The MI all-rounder said, “I want to wish Rahul and Karthik all the best that they are going to a good franchise. The environment there is very good. I have been there for a long time. I remember everything, but will meet on the field, in a different style.”

Deepak Chahar has been a part of CSK from 2018 to 2024. During this period he took 76 wickets in 76 matches. Deepak was released by CSK in 2025. MI bought him in the auction.

Rahul Chahar is the brother of Deepak Chahar. Rahul has played for Rising Pune Supergiants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rahul is a leg spinner and has taken 75 wickets in total 79 matches of IPL. In the IPL 2026 auction, Rahul Chahar, who had a base price of Rs 1 crore, was bought by CSK for Rs 5.20 crore.

Whereas wicketkeeper batsman Karthik Sharma, who had a base price of Rs 30 lakh, was bought by CSK for a record Rs 14.20 crore. Karthik is jointly the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. Along with Karthik, CSK also bought Prashant Veer for Rs 14.20 crore.
