Veteran wicketkeeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni believes that Rituraj Gaikwad’s return will strengthen the batting of Chennai Super Kings in the next session of IPL. Gaikwad was out of the early matches of the IPL due to an elbow injury in the last season.

Dhoni took over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings in place of Gaikwad, but the batting of the five -time champion team continued to struggle. The team finished at the bottom of the table with just four wins out of 14 matches.

Dhoni indicated during a private ceremony in Chennai that Chennai’s team will retain Gaikwad in the team. He said, ‘We were a little worried about our batting order, but I think now our batting order is very systematic. Rituraj will return. He was hurt. If he makes a comeback, now we will be very organized.

Dhoni is happy with Gaikwad’s return to CSK, but said that the franchise will try to further strengthen the team through a small auction to the end of this year. We will try to remove those shortcomings.

Gaikwad has a match against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on April 8 for CSK. Dhoni admitted that the performance of Super Kings in the last two seasons has been much weaker than expected.
