The home ground of RCB, the team that will win IPL for the first time in 2025, is M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

It is not yet decided whether IPL matches will be held in Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium or not. Before holding the match again in the stadium, it will be necessary to pass both security clearance and fitness test from experts.

At the time of the Women’s World Cup, the Justice D’Cunha Committee had also declared this ground unsafe for big events. This year, there was a victory parade in the stadium after RCB won its first IPL trophy. But due to the huge crowd outside, a stampede broke out, in which 11 people died and more than 50 were injured.

On June 3, 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the first IPL final.

The committee pointed out flaws in the stadium After the stampede at the stadium on June 4, a committee led by Justice John Michael D’Cunha was formed to investigate the incident. In whose report many shortcomings related to the stadium came to light. The report said that-

  • The current structure of the stadium is not safe for large events.
  • There are not enough entry and exit gates at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
  • International standards for emergency evacuation planning do not exist.
  • The roads around the stadium are extremely congested, making movement difficult in emergency situations.
  • Parking is extremely limited, leading to poor traffic and crowd control.

After this report, the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 matches were also shifted from Bengaluru to Navi Mumbai. At the same time, the domestic T-20 league Maharaja T-20 Trophy also had to be shifted to Mysore instead of Bengaluru.

On June 4, when RCB won the IPL after 18 years, there was a stampede in the victory parade organized at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, in which 11 people lost their lives.

Must pass fitness test Now the big question is whether Bengaluru will be able to get its home matches in IPL 2026? The Karnataka government has ordered Chinnaswamy Stadium to pass a fitness test. For this, the Public Works Department (PWD) has sent a notice to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). KSCA will have to submit a structural safety report of the stadium from NABL-certified experts.

Matches will be held only after experts declare it safe IPL matches will be held in the stadium only when experts declare its structure completely safe. If Chinnaswamy Stadium does not pass the fitness test, RCB may have to play its home matches outside Bengaluru.

IPL can start from March 15 IPL 2026 is likely to start from March 15, while the final can be played on May 31. Before this, a mini auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on 16 December.
