When the IPL 2025 was stopped, the team of Lucknow Super Gynts had a relief that they have all the players fit. The LSG was then expected to return, but now these expectations are shocked. In fact, India’s fastest bowler Mayank Yadav had to be out of the remaining matches of the league due to a back injury. Due to this, questions have started to be raised on BCCI’s ‘Center of Excellence’ (NCA in the past). Fans are asking how they were given a fitness certificate.

The IPL media release said, “Mayank Yadav has suffered a back injury and is out of the remaining session.” New Zealand’s William O Rurke will replace Lucknow Super Gynts for the remaining tournament. Mayank, who returned after a six -month rehabilitation at the ‘Center of Excellence’ (COE), gave 100 runs in eight overs in two matches and took just two wickets. He bowled 48 balls in total. Mayank was associated with the Lucknow team on 16 April after receiving a fitness certificate from COE. He then got to play a match against Mumbai Indians on 27 April. He then landed against Punjab Kings on May 4. The IPL was then postponed on May 9. Now when the second phase is starting from May 17, Mayank is again struggling with injury.

This season, his speed declined by at least 15 km per hour and the bowling action has changed. For the record, Mayank has played nine T20 matches between 30 March 2024 and 4 May 2025, which is exactly 13 months and four days. He has suffered a back injury three times within a year. Mayank’s nine matches include four T20 matches for Lucknow last year. Then he rocked by putting a ball of 150 km per hour. However, the first breakdown took place in April last year and remained out for six months. After that Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir included him in India’s T20 International team for the Bangladesh series.

By the end of the series, his back injury emerged again and he missed the entire domestic season due to rehabilitation in NCA and then newly constructed COE. Now he is again injured. It has questioned the COE as to how he was declared fit. A ‘strength and conditioning trainer’, who has worked in NCA, said, ‘Now when Nitin Patel has gone, you do not know who should be asked about Mayank’s rehabilitation. The next question that should be asked whether they were given a certificate of premature fit, without ensuring that their back injury could emerge within two matches? Mayank Yadav and Umran Malik have a lot of lack of rehabilitation due to injury.

Mayank is just 22 years old and has many years of cricket in front of him, but due to this continuous injury, the selection committee will lose confidence in him. He has a contract for the BCCI fast bowler and has been under the board for the last one year, but he may need to consult foreign experts due to frequent injuries. However, COE has completely objected to this. In the past, many senior players and coaches have questioned the functioning of NCA. From Rohit Sharma to Rahul Dravid, the coach of the Indian team, has raised questions about how the player who did not fit half fit or 100 percent can be allowed to play with the Indian team.
