The Delhi Capitals team may have lost in the second match of the double header played on Sunday in IPL 2025, but Karun Nair’s batting won everyone’s heart. Karun landed in the IPL after almost three years and he scored a stormy innings of 89 runs against Mumbai Indians with the help of 12 fours and five sixes in 40 balls. During this time his strike rate was 222.50.
After Karun’s banging batting, one of his old tweets is going viral. In this, he is talking about giving himself another chance from cricket. Not only IPL, Karun has recently scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket, but he could not get a chance in the national team. If he continues this performance in the IPL, the selectors can consider his name for the Test series against England. There is a possibility of change in the Indian team for the tour of England.

Great performance in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25
In the old tweet of 33-year-old Karun, he wrote- ‘Dear cricket! Please give me another chance. ‘ He tweeted this in December 2022. At that time, Karun Nair, who did well in domestic cricket, did not get a chance on his social media handle X (East Twitter). His career was almost at the end. In such a situation, Karun, who was completely broken, posted this. After this post, there has been some miracle for Karun in the last two years and he has started knocking on the Indian team’s door again.
In the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy, he shocked everyone by performing brilliantly. Karun scored the most runs in this tournament and took his team to the finals on his own. However, in the final, his team Vidarbha suffered a defeat against Karnataka. Karun scored the highest 779 runs in the eight innings in this tournament at an amazing average of 389.50 and a strike rate of 124.04. These include five centuries and a half -century. His best personal score was 163 not out.

Champions made their team in Ranji Trophy
Not only this, Karun’s brilliant performance continued in the country’s most prestigious domestic red ball tournament Ranji Trophy. His team also reached the finals of Vidarbha Ranji and defeated Kerala in the final and won the Ranji Trophy. Karun was the fourth highest highest in this tournament and the second highest run -scorer for Vidarbha. Karun scored 863 runs in 16 innings at an average of 53.93. These include four centuries and two half -centuries. His best innings was 135 runs. More runs than Karun were scored by Yash Rathore (960 runs) for Vidarbha.
However, Karun has definitely knocked on the Indian team’s door with the best performance in two consecutive top domestic tournaments. In the mega auction, Delhi Capitals bought Karun for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. However, he did not get a chance before the match on Sunday. On Sunday, when he landed at the Arun Jaitley Stadium against Mumbai, he showed that the form is temporary and the class is permanent. Seeing Vijay Hazare, Ranji and now his batting in the IPL, it seems that cricket has probably given him another chance.

Bumrah was beaten up in the match against Mumbai
Karun scored a half -century in just 22 balls against Mumbai Indians. This was the 11th half -century of his IPL career. He scored a half -century in this tournament after almost seven years. The last time Karun did this against Chennai Super Kings in May 2018. He then scored 54 runs in 26 balls. Karun came on the field as an impact player and put a lot of impact in the match. The Delhi team lost the wicket of Jake Fraser McGark on no score. After this, Karun, who came out to bat at number three, shared a 119 -run partnership for the second wicket with Abhishek.
However, before the century, he was cleaned by Mitchell Santner, but the fans gave him a standing ovation when he was going back to 89 runs. 89 runs is the second highest score made by an impact player in the IPL. Karun surpassed Rohit Sharma in the case, who scored 68 runs against Lucknow in the last season. Karun also beat up the world’s best fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah during this innings. He played a total of nine balls against this fast bowler and scored 26 runs. With this, he became the second batsman to score the most runs against Bumrah in the IPL. In 2016, Shikhar Dhawan scored 27 runs against Bumrah in 16 balls. There was also a tu-tu-main-main-main-main-main-me in Karun’s field. Click here to read its story …

Karun was dropped after scoring a triple century
Karun was badly bad with Karun and was dropped against England after scoring a triple century in Chennai. Karun scored an unbeaten 303 against England in December 2016. However, he then played three Tests and scored 54 runs in four innings. However, the selectors never gave him a chance to play in the Indian team again. But he did not lose courage and continued to work hard and luck is now standing with him. He has submitted a claim to the Ajit Agarkar -led selection committee by performing brilliantly in domestic tournaments and IPL.
