India has once again shown its strength. Sri Lanka has resolved the disputed issue after advocating PM Modi’s fishermen’s issue from a human point of view. Even before Prime Minister Modi returned to India, Sri Lanka released 11 Indian fishermen in jail.

On Saturday, the issue of fishermen raised the issue of fishermen during a conversation between PM Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayake. Regarding this matter, PM Modi had said that we also discussed issues related to the livelihood of fishermen. We agreed that we should adopt a human view in this matter. We also emphasized the immediate release of fishermen and their boats.

After this Sri Lanka released 11 fishermen. In fact, there has always been a dispute between Sri Lanka-India over the issue of fishermen. The first several times the Sri Lankan Navy has used force against Indian fishermen in Pakistani Strait.
In the media briefing on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian said that there was a lot of detail between the two sides on the issue of fishermen. The need to adopt human and creative approach to cooperation on these issues was emphasized. These are issues that affect the livelihood of fishermen on both sides of the Gulf.

Egyptian said that the Prime Minister emphasized that this is a daily issue for fishermen and some actions taken in recent times can be reconsidered. The Foreign Secretary had said that both sides also emphasized the need to intensify the discussions on the issue. Both sides are considering organizing the next round of fishermen’s union talks between Sri Lanka and India.
