IDC issued by Report Separate figures for shipments of desktops, notebooks, and workstations have been released. In which year over year growth of 6.7 percent has been recorded in desktop shipments. Notebook shipments declined 11.1 percent. Also, a decline of 14 percent has been recorded in the workstation market. A decline has also been recorded in the consumer and commercial segments. There has been growth in education and government sectors. The education sector has recorded a growth of 80.5 percent while the government segment has recorded a growth of 18 percent.
If we talk about the performance of companies in the PC market, according to the report, HP is at the forefront here with a market share of 31.5 percent. Its desktop has 25.1 percent market share while notebook has 33.8 percent market share. But it has suffered a loss of 2.5 percent in year over year performance. Lenovo occupies the second position here with a market share of 16.7 percent. The company has registered a decline of 17.8 percent year over year.
Dell is present at number three with 15.5 percent market share. It has suffered a loss of 24.5 percent year over year. Acer Group’s market share is 12.3 percent and it is in fourth place. The company has achieved year over year growth of 16.1 percent here. There has been an increase in demand for its commercial desktops. ASUS comes at fifth place here with a market share of 7.9 percent. Year over year the company has achieved a growth of 8.6 percent. The company has got the second position in the consumer segment which comes after HP with 15.1 percent.
