Arshdeep’s cricket journey was full of struggle…

Father recognized skill, mother used strength

Arshdeep Singh’s family is from Kharar, Punjab. His father Darshan Singh works in a private company. When Arshdeep was born, his father was posted in Madhya Pradesh. Arshdeep is also a bowler.

His father recognized his passion for cricket. He saw him bowling in the park. Then at the age of 13, he took him to the cricket academy of Guru Nanak Dev School, Sector 36, Chandigarh, from where his coaching started.

Arshdeep’s father was posted outside. In such a situation, it was not easy to reach Chandigarh ground from Kharar at six in the morning, because it was a journey of about 15 kilometers. In such a situation, Arshdeep Singh’s mother used to bring him on bicycle in the morning and used to stay there.

After school, she used to make them sit in the park and feed them food etc. After this she would again send me to the academy and take her home in the evening. He had to struggle a lot in the initial days.

The family had made preparations to send him to Canada

Arshdeep Singh was not being selected in the Punjab team, due to which the family members were worried. In such a situation, the parents decided to send him to Canada, to his brother. He talked to his coach about this.

When the coach discussed this with Arshdeep, he said that he wants to play cricket. On the advice of the coach, Arshdeep told this to his family. The family members gave him one year’s time.

After this, Arshdeep worked hard on the ground and then he was selected in the Punjab Under-19 team. After this he played the Under-19 World Cup and then this journey continued.

Recognized variation and became king

Even when Arshdeep Singh was playing World Cup U-19, his problems were not less. Because there were three bowlers in front of him in terms of speed. So he started working on variations.

He used to bowl good yorkers in the death overs, so he worked on the yorkers. Slow over and worked on line and length. It was because of his variation that he was selected in IPL.
