India Will Soon Get these High-Tech Hypersonic Missiles DRDO Know How They Work

Hypersonic Missiles: India’s leading defense research institution DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) is constantly working on modern and advanced arms systems to take the country’s military strength to new heights. This includes hypersonic missiles, high-energy laser, stealth fighter jets, anti-draone technology and air defense systems. In an interview to NDTV, DRDO chief Dr. Sameer V Kamat told how India is moving fast towards developing the state -of -the -art weapons of the next generation.

The first discussion is of BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) Cruise Missile which will be lighter and smaller than the current BrahMos missile. Its purpose is to apply it on a variety of fighter aircraft, while the present BrahMos can only fit on heavy jets like SU-30mki. DRDO is working on increasing its range and reducing size so that the Indian Air Force can get more strategic flexibility.

Work on two hypersonic missiles

Along with this, two hypersonic missile systems are also being worked out. One of these is hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) which is in the final stages of its tests and may join the army in the next two to three years. At the same time, there has been great success in scumjet engine technology in the other direction, which was operated for 1000 seconds. Through this, there is a preparation to build a hypersonic cruise missile, which can be ready in 5-7 years on the approval of the government.

Air-to-air missile

To strengthen the air war capacity, DRDO Air-to-Air Missile is working on ‘Astra MK-2 and MK-3’. At the same time, missiles attacking the land ‘Rudram-2’, ‘Rudram-3’ and ‘Rudram-4’ will strengthen the Indian armed forces even more. To deal with dangers such as drones, DRDO is also working on a directed energy weapon system, which will include laser and high power microwave technology. The development of a long range surface-to-air missile system called ‘Kusha’ is also going on fast to strengthen India’s air defense network.

Indigenous stealth fighter jet

At the same time, indigenous Stealth Fighter Jet, AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft) is also now developing under the new partnership model. There is a possibility of participation or joint venture of private companies with HAL in this project, and recently ADA has released EOI (Expression of Interest). The construction of light tank ‘Zorawar’ for the forces deployed on the ground is also almost complete, designed for high areas like Ladakh and Sikkim.

Its tests have been completed and now it will be sent for field trial. Dr. Kamat also clarified that now DRDO’s strategy has completely changed. He said, “Now we have understood that all our weapons should work in an environment which is electronically blocked. For this, an autonomous system has to be prepared completely.”
