After the announcement of 25 per cent tariff on goods from India to America by President Donald Trump, the Government of India has denied any scheme to buy American Still Fighter Jet F-35. Bloomberg has given this information quoting sources from the Government of India.
On the condition of confidentiality, officials said that the Government of India has told the US that it is not going to buy any major defense from it in the near future including AF-35. These officials also made it clear that India will prioritize conditions like joint development of arms, transfer of technology, construction and self -sufficiency in India in defense procurement.
For a long time, US defense officials have been indicating that in February this year, there was talk of purchasing these aircraft in talks between PM Narendra Modi and President Trump. Trump also spoke about the proposal to sell F-35 to India in front of the media. But India never agreed to this. At that time, in the next five years between the two countries, bilateral trade was raised to $ 500 billion and for this a large amount of defense purchases from the US. Under this, Trump proposed to sell F-35 aircraft to India. India has increased defense procurement from the US in recent times and has included MH 60R sehocopter and P-8i sea surveillance aircraft. Despite this, India relied reluctant to make high -tech purchases from the US until the condition of construction in India is fulfilled.
Russia has proposed to sell SU-57E
The biggest obstacle in the US F-35 path is Russia’s SU-57E. According to sources in the Ministry of Defense, in July itself, Russia has proposed to sell its fifth generation Still Fighter Jet SU-57E to India. The special thing is that Russia has proposed construction in India including transfer of technology for this. It is proposed to build it at the Hindustan Aeronautics plant in Nashik.
60 percent parts can be formed in India
According to Russia’s proposal, 60 per cent of the parts in SU-57D to be built in India will be Indians and this will be able to deploy indigenous missiles in this aircraft itself. With this, India will be able to mold their firepower according to their needs.
