Indian batsmen dominated the second day of the first Test match being played against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurlel and Ravindra Jadeja scored a century for India on Friday, which managed to lead India. The Indian team scored 448 runs for five wickets in the first innings till the end of the day’s game. India has so far gained a lead of 286 runs. At the time of stumps, Jadeja is present at the crease by scoring 104 runs and Washington Sundar nine runs with the help of six fours and five sixes off 176 balls.

After Rahul, Jurae-Jadeja showed power
The Indian team started playing ahead of 121 runs for two wickets on the second day and today scored 327 runs and lost three wickets. India got three shocks in the form of Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurael. While Shubman Gill scored a half -century, Rahul completed the century in the first session. Rahul scored the 11th century of Test career. His second Test century was on the Indian land. After the lunch break, Rahul could not retain his rhythm and he was caught out by Varkon. Rahul was dismissed for 100 runs with the help of 12 fours off 197 balls.
Jurael and Jadeja handled the Indian innings after Rahul and Gill returned to the pavilion. Both batsmen fiercely harassed the West Indies bowlers. During this time, the first Test century of his career came out with Jurael’s bat. Jurael became the 12th batsman of India to score hundreds in Tests. After Jurael was dismissed, Jadeja also changed gear and completed his sixth century of his Test career while playing fast.

Three batsmen scored a century in an innings for the fourth time in a calendar year
This year is the third time when three batsmen of India have scored a century in the same innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Gill and Rishabh Pant scored centuries in a single innings during the Leeds Test against England before the Ahmedabad Test against the West Indies. At the same time, Gill, Jadeja and Sundar scored centuries in an innings in the Manchester Test against England. This is the fourth time when three or more batsmen of India have scored centuries in a single innings in a calendar year. Prior to this, this has also happened in 1979, 1986 and 2007.

Jadeja overtakes washing in case of sixes
Jadeja has so far hit five sixes in the first innings against the West Indies and he has become the fourth batsman to hit the most sixes for India in Tests. Jadeja left behind former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in this case who has hit 78 sixes in his career. At the same time, Jadeja has hit 80 sixes so far. In this case, Pant (90 sixes), Virender Sehwag (90 sixes) and Rohit Sharma (88 sixes) are ahead of Jadeja.
